Excerpts from an assembly at the Roman senate on March, 3, discussing the reasons for which Romans lost in the Battle of Carrhae 9 months earlier:
Lieutenant Surena used new arms and tactics in this war
Each Iranian soldier carried some water and did not become thirsty like Roman soldiers did.
Camels were used to supply soldiers with weapons and water
Iranian soldiers had a special technique and took turn to rest and recover.
They used newly invented bows and arrows.
They used new type of spears that were thrown far using some equipment.
Their swords were not fragile.
They did not have the right to retreat or surrender and had to fight till last breath.
Each unit used a special weapon and was not heavy with different arms.
These are the reasons Crassus was killed and Romans lost 7 legions....
